Description

🥟 These hand‑crafted Cantonese wontons capture authentic flavors passed down by a master chef.
👨‍🍳 Simple ingredients and a few pro tips make it easy to recreate restaurant‑quality dumplings at home.

Ingredients

– 200g ground pork – provides a savory and juicy filling with rich flavor

– 1/2 cup finely chopped napa cabbage – adds crunch and freshness

– 2 cloves garlic, minced – enhances aroma and depth of taste

– 1 tablespoon soy sauce – brings umami and saltiness

– 1 teaspoon sesame oil – adds a nutty fragrance

– Wonton wrappers (24 pieces) – the delicate outer layer that encases the filling

Instructions

1-First Step: Prepare the filling by mixing ground pork, chopped napa cabbage, minced garlic, soy sauce, and sesame oil in a bowl until well combined.

2-Second Step: Lay a wonton wrapper flat on a clean surface, place a small spoonful of filling in the center.

3-Third Step: Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water, fold into a triangle, and press firmly to seal.

4-Fourth Step: Bring the two corners of the triangle together and seal with a bit of water to form the classic wonton shape.

5-Fifth Step: Repeat until all filling and wrappers are used.

6-Sixth Step: Cook the wontons by boiling in salted water for 4-5 minutes, or until they float to the surface.

7-Seventh Step: For frying, heat oil in a pan to 180°C (350°F) and fry wontons until golden brown.

8-Final Step: Serve immediately with dipping sauce of choice. For dietary adaptations, use vegan filling or gluten-free wrappers as indicated. Cooking times may vary slightly depending on filling choices.

Notes

🔪 Keep the filling chilled until you’re ready to assemble; this makes sealing easier and prevents the meat from becoming too soft.
💧 Use a very small amount of water to seal the wrappers—just enough to make the edges stick, otherwise the wontons may become soggy.
⚡ For extra flavor, toast the ginger and green onions in the broth for a few minutes before adding the stock, and consider adding a few slices of dried shiitake mushroom for depth.
