Description

🍫 Enjoy a sweet escape with the rich, creamy charm of German Chocolate Fudge that’s perfect for giving as a treat.
🥥 Delight in the decadent coconut pecan icing that adds texture and a luscious flavor twist to this indulgent dessert.

Ingredients

– 16 tablespoons butter

– 2 cups evaporated milk

– 2 cups milk chocolate chips

– 3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

– 4 1/2 cups sugar

– 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

– 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream

– 1 1/2 cups sugar

– 5 egg yolks

– 6 tablespoons butter

– 2 cups sweetened angel hair coconut

– 1 cup toasted chopped pecans

Instructions

First Step: Prepare Your Workspace and Ingredients Set up your work area by lining a 9×13-inch baking pan (or 9×9-inch pan for thicker fudge) with wax or aluminum foil to facilitate easy removal. Measure and have all ingredients ready: butter, evaporated milk, chocolate chips, sugar, vanilla extract, heavy cream, egg yolks, coconut, and toasted pecans.

Second Step: Make the Fudge Base In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine 4 1/2 cups sugar and 2 cups evaporated milk. Stir continuously, bringing the mixture to a slow boil. Maintain boiling and stir constantly for about 8 to 10 minutes to allow the sugar to dissolve completely and the mixture to thicken slightly. Take care not to caramelize the sugar excessively.

Third Step: Mix the Chocolate and Butter Pour the hot sugar and evaporated milk mixture over 16 tablespoons of butter and 2 cups of milk chocolate chips placed in a large mixing bowl. Allow the heat to melt the butter and chocolate chips for a few minutes without stirring. Then, using an electric mixer, beat the mixture steadily for about 3 minutes until smooth, glossy, and fluffy.

Fourth Step: Add Vanilla Extract and Set the Base Mix 2 teaspoons vanilla extract into the fudge base thoroughly. Spread the fudge evenly into the prepared pan, smoothing the surface with a spatula. Refrigerate for at least one hour or until firm and set. This forms the rich chocolate foundation for your german chocolate fudge.

Fifth Step: Prepare the Coconut Pecan Icing Combine 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream, 1 1/2 cups sugar, 5 egg yolks, and 6 tablespoons butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir constantly to prevent curdling and cook until the mixture thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon (about 8-10 minutes). Remove the pan from heat.

Sixth Step: Fold in Coconut and Pecans Once the egg yolk mixture is thickened, gently fold in 2 cups of sweetened coconut and 1 cup toasted chopped pecans. Let the icing cool for 15-20 minutes to allow it to thicken and slightly set before spreading over the fudge base.

Seventh Step: Assemble and Chill Spread the cooled coconut pecan icing evenly over the chilled fudge base. Return the assembled german chocolate fudge to the refrigerator and chill until fully set before slicing into approximately 36 small squares.

Final Step: Serve and Store Serve your indulgent german chocolate fudge chilled or at room temperature. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week or freeze securely for up to two months.

Notes

🌰 Toast pecans beforehand to enhance their flavor. Coconut can also be toasted if preferred.
🍫 Using German chocolate baking bars in place of chocolate chips can deepen the authentic flavor.
🔪 Lining your pan with waxed paper or foil aids in lifting the fudge out easily for cutting and serving.
