Description

🥔 Crispy edges and a buttery, garlicky interior make these smashed potatoes a perfect side for any dinner.
🧈 The simple technique of boiling, smashing, and high‑heat roasting gives a restaurant‑level texture at home.

Ingredients

– 680 g (1 ½ lb) baby Yukon Gold potatoes (about 10-14 potatoes)

– 2 Tbsp + ¾ tsp kosher salt, divided

– 4 Tbsp (½ stick) unsalted butter

– 4 cloves garlic, finely grated (≈1 Tbsp)

– 2 Tbsp chopped fresh parsley leaves

– ¼ tsp freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

1-Wash and boil the baby potatoes in salted water until tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain and let them cool slightly.

2-Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

3-Arrange the cooked potatoes on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

4-Use a potato masher or the bottom of a glass to gently press down on each potato until it slightly flattens but remains in one piece.

5-In a small saucepan, melt the butter and mix in the minced garlic. Allow the garlic to infuse the butter over low heat for 2-3 minutes without burning.

6-Drizzle the garlic butter evenly over the smashed potatoes, making sure each is well coated.

7-Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.

8-Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the edges are crispy and golden brown.

9-Optional – garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.

10-Serve hot as a delicious side dish. For vegan adaptation, use plant-based butter and check seasoning for dietary compliance.

Notes

🥔 Use baby Yukon Gold potatoes for the best texture, though any small‑to‑medium potatoes work.
🧄 Grate the garlic very finely to prevent burning during the high‑heat roasting.
🌿 Feel free to add extra herbs or spices such as rosemary or smoked paprika for variety.
