Description

🌀 Enjoy the warm, comforting flavors of cinnamon rolls in an easy-to-share pull-apart bread.
🍪 Perfect for breakfast or dessert, this monkey bread is soft, gooey, and irresistibly delicious!

Ingredients

Scale

4 tubes (7½ ounces each) refrigerated buttermilk biscuits (non-flaky) or equivalent homemade dough
½ cup granulated sugar
2 to 3 teaspoons ground cinnamon (adjust to taste)
½ cup (1 stick) butter, melted
½ cup packed brown sugar
Optional for homemade dough version:
1½ cups whole milk, warmed to about 110°F (43°C)
2¼ teaspoons instant yeast
¼ cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
⅓ cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled
1 teaspoon salt
5 cups all-purpose flour
Optional vanilla icing (for homemade dough version):
1 cup confectioners’ sugar
3 tablespoons whole milk
½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Generously grease a 9- or 10-inch fluted tube pan.
2. Cut each biscuit into 4 pieces and shape into balls. For homemade dough, mix warm milk, yeast, and sugar; rest 5 minutes. Add eggs, butter, salt, and flour, then knead 5-7 minutes until elastic. Let dough rise 1-2 hours until doubled, then punch down and form 40-45 dough balls.
3. Combine granulated sugar and cinnamon in a bowl. Roll each dough ball in the cinnamon sugar until evenly coated. Arrange in the prepared pan.
4. Melt ½ cup butter, mix with brown sugar, and pour over the dough balls. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla to glaze for extra flavor.
5. If using homemade dough, let rest for about 20 minutes for a slight rise.
6. Place the pan on a baking sheet and bake for 35 to 45 minutes, or until golden brown and firm.
7. Let cool for 5-10 minutes before inverting onto a serving platter.

Notes

🧈 Use a fluted tube or Bundt pan for the best shape and easy removal.
🥄 Grease the pan generously to prevent sticking.
🌡️ Confirm bread doneness with an instant-read thermometer (~185°F).
