Ingredients
– 1 stick salted butter (1/2 cup, very soft)
– 3/4 cup white sugar
– 2 tablespoons brown sugar, packed
– 1 egg
– 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
– 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons flour
– 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
– 1/4 teaspoon salt
– 1 cup chocolate chips
– 18.9 ounce brownie mix (prepared according to package directions)
Instructions
1-Prepare the Cookie Dough: In a small bowl, cream the softened butter, white sugar, and packed brown sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla until smooth. Gently stir in the flour, baking soda, and salt until just combined, then fold in the chocolate chips. Chill the cookie dough in the refrigerator until youβre ready to use it this helps keep everything from spreading too much in the oven.
2-Preheat and Prepare the Brownies: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Follow the instructions on the brownie mix package to prepare the batter. Pour that batter into an 8Γ8 inch or 9Γ9 inch square glass baking dish for the perfect thickness.
3-Assemble and Bake: Scatter pieces of the chilled cookie dough over the top of the brownie batter and press them in gently so they sink a bit. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, but keep an eye on it if the cookie dough starts browning too fast, cover the pan with aluminum foil. A smart way is to bake uncovered for the first 20 minutes, covered for the next 10, and uncovered for the final 5. Once done, let it cool in the pan for 15 to 20 minutes before cutting oh, and donβt forget, a glass of milk makes it even better!
Notes
π« Use a square baking pan (8×8 or 9×9) for thicker cookie brownie layers.
β²οΈ Bake for the full recommended time to prevent the brownies from sinking in the center; avoid removing them too early.
π‘οΈ Cover with foil during baking if the cookie topping browns too quickly. Consider baking uncovered for the first 20 minutes, covered for the next 10 minutes, and uncovered for the final 5 minutes.
