Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter
1 cup Nutella (divided into 2 tsp scoops and frozen)
1 cup light brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg plus 1 egg yolk
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon kosher salt
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
1. Melt the butter over medium-low heat, swirling constantly until browned and amber-colored. Remove from heat and let cool.
2. Line a baking sheet with parchment or wax paper. Drop 2-teaspoon portions of Nutella onto it and freeze for at least 20 minutes.
3. In a mixing bowl, combine the cooled browned butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Mix until smooth.
4. Add eggs, vanilla extract, baking powder, baking soda, and salt, mixing until well combined.
5. Stir in the flour, then fold in the chocolate chips.
6. Chill the dough for 15-30 minutes.
7. Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
8. Scoop 3-tablespoon portions of dough, flatten slightly, and create a well in the center. Place a Nutella scoop inside and seal the dough to form a ball.
9. Place dough balls 3 inches apart on the baking sheet. Optionally, sprinkle flaky sea salt on top.
10. Bake for 8-12 minutes until edges are golden brown. Cool cookies on the sheet for 3-4 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
