Description

🍪 Indulge in a giant chocolate chip cookie that’s crispy on the outside and soft and gooey on the inside.
🍫 Perfect for sharing, or enjoying all to yourself, this treat requires no chill time for instant satisfaction!

Ingredients

Scale

3 tablespoons (42 g) melted butter
2 tablespoons (25 g) granulated sugar
1/4 cup (53 g) lightly packed brown sugar
1 large egg yolk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon (73 g) all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons cornstarch
1/8 to 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/8 to 3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 to 1 1/2 cups (85255 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
Optional mix-ins: colored sprinkles, nuts, M&Ms, toffee chips

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
2. Mix melted (or softened) butter with granulated and brown sugars until smooth and creamy. Beat in egg yolks and vanilla extract until combined.
3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, baking soda, baking powder (if using), and salt.
4. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, stirring until fully incorporated. Fold in chocolate chips and any optional mix-ins.
5. Form dough into one large ball on the prepared baking sheet and gently press down to about 1/2 to 3/4 inch thickness.
6. Bake for 15–25 minutes until edges are set and golden but centers remain soft and slightly underdone.
7. Immediately after baking, use a metal spatula to gently shape edges into a perfect circle if desired. Press additional chocolate chips onto the warm cookie tops for visual appeal.
8. Let cool on the baking sheet for at least 10–15 minutes before serving.

Notes

🛒 Accurate measurement of flour and sugars is critical for consistent dough texture.
🥚 Use large or extra-large eggs for best chewiness; room temperature eggs and butter improve mixing and baking results.
❄️ Chilling dough for 30 minutes (or longer) can improve flavor and prevent excessive spreading, but is optional for single large cookies.
