Description

🍰 Elevate your baking with a rich and smooth Cream Cheese Frosting – perfect for adding a luxurious finish to your cakes and cupcakes!
🧁 This frosting balances tangy and sweet flavors beautifully, making it a versatile topping for a variety of treats.

Ingredients

Scale

Β½ cup (1 stick; 113g) unsalted butter, softened at room temperature
8 oz (226g) full-fat cream cheese, softened (brick-style preferred)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
ΒΌ teaspoon salt
3 to 4 cups (360g to 500g) powdered sugar, sifted

Instructions

1. In a mixing bowl, combine softened butter and cream cheese. Beat on medium to medium-high speed until creamy, smooth, and lump-free.
2. Add vanilla extract and salt; mix well.
3. Gradually add powdered sugar on low speed, starting with 3 cups and increasing up to 4 cups if a thicker consistency is desired. Beat until fully combined and smooth, scraping down the bowl as needed.
4. If frosting is too thin, refrigerate for 20-30 minutes to help thicken before using. For thicker frosting, add powdered sugar incrementally or a small amount of cornstarch (1 tablespoon at a time) to avoid extra sweetness.
5. Use immediately on completely cooled cakes or cupcakes, or store in the refrigerator covered tightly to prevent drying. Refrigerated frosting should be brought back to room temperature and gently re-beaten before use.

Notes

🧈 Use full-fat brick cream cheese rather than spreadable or low-fat varieties to avoid runny frosting.
✨ Both butter and cream cheese should be softened to room temperature for a smooth, lump-free texture.
πŸ”ͺ Sift powdered sugar before adding to prevent clumps and clogged piping tips.
