Description

🧁 Creamy and Luscious: Perfect for topping cakes and cupcakes, this frosting will enhance your baking creations with its rich flavors!
🎨 Versatile Delight: Customize with colors or flavors to match any occasion; it’s a great way to add personality to your desserts!

Ingredients

Scale

Β½ cup (1 stick; 113g) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
8 ounces (1 block; 226g) full-fat brick cream cheese, softened to room temperature (not spreadable or whipped type)
3 to 4 cups (360g to 500g) powdered sugar, sifted (start with 3 cups and add more if a thicker frosting is desired)
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
ΒΌ to β…› teaspoon salt (adjust depending on butter salt content; omit salt if using salted butter)

Instructions

Using a stand or electric mixer, beat the softened butter and cream cheese together on high speed until creamy, smooth, and lump-free (about 2 minutes). Scrape down the bowl as needed.
Gradually add powdered sugar, preferably sifted, starting with 3 cups on low speed to avoid a sugar cloud, then increase speed and beat until fully incorporated and smooth. Add the remaining powdered sugar if you want a thicker consistency.
Stir in vanilla extract and salt, mixing briefly to combine.
For piping or a firmer texture, refrigerate the frosting for 20 to 30 minutes before use. If the frosting becomes too thick, thin it with a splash of milk or heavy cream. If too soft or runny, chill for 30 minutes or add more powdered sugar a little at a time.
Use immediately to frost completely cooled cakes or cupcakes. Leftover frosting can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 5–7 days or frozen for up to 3 months. Thaw in the refrigerator and re-beat before use.

Notes

πŸ§€ Tip: Always use full-fat brick cream cheese, not low-fat or tub-style spreadable cream cheese, to prevent runny frosting.
πŸ•°οΈ Tip: Allow butter and cream cheese to fully soften to room temperature for a lump-free, smooth frosting. Avoid leaving them out for too long; about one hour is sufficient.
πŸ§‚ Tip: Sifting powdered sugar before mixing helps avoid lumps and clogging if piping the frosting.
