Ingredients
Bacon
Ground Beef (1 lb, lean or regular)
Cheddar Cheese
Mozzarella Cheese
Elbow Macaroni or Frozen Shredded Hash Browns
Montreal Steak Seasoning
Worcestershire Sauce
Ketchup (sugar-free or regular)
Mustard (honey dijon preferred)
Garlic (minced or powdered)
Salt
Pepper
Cream of Mushroom Soup or Cream of Celery Soup
Heavy Cream or Half-and-Half
Dill Pickle Relish
White Vinegar
Bread Crumbs (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F or 400°F, adjusting based on your preference for a lightly browned top or a gentler bake.
2. Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat or on a sheet pan in the oven until crispy. Drain on paper towels, then chop into small pieces.
3. In a large skillet, cook 1 lb of ground beef until fully browned. Drain any excess fat and season with Montreal steak seasoning and Worcestershire sauce, stirring well.
4. In a mixing bowl, combine cooked ground beef, crispy bacon, cooked pasta or hash browns, and shredded cheese. Add ketchup, mustard, cream of mushroom or celery soup, and a splash of heavy cream for creaminess. Season with garlic, salt, and pepper to taste.
5. Grease a 9×13 casserole dish and evenly spread the mixture into it. Sprinkle additional cheese on top.
6. Place the casserole dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
7. For a slightly crispy top, broil the casserole for the last few minutes, monitoring closely to prevent burning.
8. Remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
Notes
1. Mix different cheese types like cheddar and mozzarella for a creamy and flavorful topping.
2. Incorporate caramelized onions or sautéed mushrooms to add a rich depth of flavor.
3. Use alternative bases like cauliflower florets or zucchini noodles for a lighter, lower-carb version.
