Appetizer Recipe: Sloppy Joe Dip – Perfect for Parties and Game Day

Description

🍴 This Sloppy Joe Dip is a crowd-pleasing delight, combining rich, savory flavors that are perfect for any gathering or game day fun! 🎉

🎈 Easy to make and incredibly satisfying, this recipe will quickly become the star of your appetizer lineup, leaving everyone asking for more! 🥄

Ingredients

Ground beef (80%-20% blend or lean ground beef), ground turkey, or ground chicken
Diced onions
Diced bell peppers (use a mix of colors for visual appeal)
Minced garlic
Garlic powder
Salt
Black pepper
Brown sugar
Chili powder
Cayenne pepper
Ketchup
Beef broth
Yellow or Dijon mustard
Worcestershire sauce
Tomato puree or tomato paste
Cornstarch (mixed with water as a thickening agent) or flour
Shredded cheddar cheese
Colby Jack cheese or Velveeta (optional or combined with cheddar)
Toasted baguette slices (as a dipper)
Bagel chips (as a dipper)
Tortilla chips (as a dipper)
Raw vegetables like carrots, cucumber slices, or bell pepper strips (as a dipper)

Instructions

1. Cook the meat in a large skillet over medium to medium-high heat until it is no longer pink. Drain any excess fat if required.
2. Sauté diced onions and bell peppers in the skillet with the cooked meat until the vegetables are tender. Add minced garlic for an extra layer of flavor.
3. Season the mixture with garlic powder, salt, black pepper, brown sugar, and cayenne pepper. Stir in the ketchup, beef broth, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and tomato puree or paste until everything is combined.
4. Thicken the dip by creating a slurry with equal parts cornstarch and water or by sprinkling in some flour. Stir continuously while allowing the mixture to simmer to ensure even thickening.
5. Add shredded cheese to the dip and stir until fully melted and incorporated. Reserve some cheese to use as a topping.
6. Allow the dip to simmer on the stovetop or bake it in the oven for a few minutes. If using the oven, broil at the end for a bubbly, golden-brown cheese topping.
7. Transfer the hot Sloppy Joe Dip to a serving dish and serve with your choice of dippers such as toasted baguette slices, tortilla chips, or raw vegetables.

Notes

1. Make ahead by preparing the meat mixture in advance and reheating with cheese for a quick, effortless party appetizer.
2. Customize to your guests’ preferences by swapping ground meat, adjusting spice levels, or adding a vegetarian twist with lentils.
3. Serve with a variety of dippers like raw vegetables, toasted bread, or chips to complement the dip’s cheesy, flavorful goodness.
